The Angelus brand was founded in Chicago nearly a century ago by Paul T. Angelus, a Greek immigrant whose journey epitomizes the American Dream. Starting out by shining shoes, Paul worked tirelessly to make a living. His dedication and hard work enabled him to save enough money to move to Los Angeles, where he opened his own shoe shine stand. The success of his first stand soon led to the opening of two more, and Paul brought his brothers over from Greece to help grow the business. Known as the “King of the Bootblacks,” Paul eventually developed his own line of shoe shine products, establishing the esteemed Angelus brand that continues to thrive today.
